Summer hike tips
The unique alpine world of Zillertal is loved by hiking enthusiasts, passionate mountaineers and summiteers alike. Zillertal offers sustainable mountain adventures for everybody at altitudes of between 500 and 3,500 metres. 1,400 kilometres of hiking routes at all levels of difficulty, 30 adventure paths and nature trails for young and old alike, music hikes and challenging themed trails are characteristic of this valley and its diversity of experiences.
A paradise for bike enthusiasts.
Zillertal gets mountain bikers' pulses racing! The unparalleled countryside with its wide valley floor, blooming mountain pastures and magnificent panorama of various three thousand metre peaks provide the best conditions for exploring the Zillertal valley by bike.
With over 1,200 km of mountain biking trails, the Zillertal valley has been crowned the best biking region in Austria and justifiably so. Mountain bikers can find dream paths to suit every taste, from the valley floor and wide Alpine paths to spectacular trails with challenging differences in altitude. What's more, hikers and mountain bikers rarely cross paths on the extensive trail network. Then, there's the ideal altitude: from 1,000 metres, the air is pollen-free and the slightly reduced oxygen content stimulates the entire body. "Train high, sleep low", in other words, train in the mountains and sleep in the valley, is an approach that guarantees the best training performance and means that you're sure to come away feeling invigorated, even for your day job too.
Zillertal Alpine Autumn
From September to October, autumn gradually takes hold of the mountain landscape. The cattle are driven down from the alpine pastures in festive processions to graze on the Zillertal valley pastures, now green and lush with many different grasses and herbs which produce the nourishing hay milk. In autumn, the days are no longer oppressively hot, the nights are cool and fresh and the sun still shines with summer radiance, illuminating the fascinating natural landscape in rich colours.
The air is crystal clear and views are a seemingly infinite, as the generally stable weather conditions allow for optimum visibility. Thanks to the year-round skiing area on the Hintertux Glacier, skiing is possible in autumn, and this adventure can be combined with a variety of other activities, such as a round of golf culminating in spa treatments and culinary delights.
