Gipfelwanderung Ahornbahn Bergstation - Ahornspitze
From the top station of the Ahornbahn cable car, the trail leads initially past a pond, which is located directly at the entrance to the Zillertal Alps Nature Park. Continue along a well-maintained hiking trail to the Edelhütte (2238m). From here, follow the well-marked path to a plateau (2400m). Now you have to walk up a very steep passage with many curves, with the peak always within sight. The trail markings are easily visible on stones or on wooden sticks. At a height of approx. 2650m, the path leads you the right side over boulders to the Popbergschneide (2700m). Now the difficult part begins! Don’t worry about the many ascents – just follow the marked red points. After negotiating some large, stone slabs you will reach the south summit of the Ahornspitze (2973m). If you want to get to the main peak, just climb a few metres down to the north. The most dangerous section is secured here with a steel cable. It is only a few metres from the small ridge up to the peak.
The peak at 2973m above sea level is particularly impressive because of the surrounding three-thousand metre high peaks and beautiful landscapes of the Zillertal Valley.
Be careful while going up because rock-falls are possible.
Ending point: Ahorn peak
